Metsä Tissue, part of the Metsä Group, commenced an operational review of its mill operations on 1 February 2019. Jari Tiura, SVP, Operations, is responsible for the operational review. As part of the operational review, Metsä Tissue will be developing a concept for the future tissue paper mill in cooperation with equipment and automation system suppliers. The concept’s development will include a review of all the operational processes of a tissue paper mill: raw materials, production, converting as well as dispatch and warehouse operations.
The review aims to find out whether a new concept could significantly improve product quality, the efficiency of production and the use of resources. In creating the concept, the possibility to build fully fossil-free mill will be studied. Also automation potential in the entire process will be reviewed together with the current status of mill systems and a development roadmap will be defined. Ari Vehviläinen, VP, Operations, has been appointed project manager of the Future Tissue Mill project.
