Paper Mart: Can you tell us about your journey as a manufacturer of pulp and paper equipment?

Madhure S. Desarda: Parason began its journey in 1976 with a foundry division that initially produced refiner plates for the pulp and paper industry. While starting as a new company, the establishment itself was a challenge. As a brand, we have to struggle against imported machinery. There were some technological gaps as well which we had to overcome and build a strong footprint in the industry.

Today, Parason has a global presence in over 63 countries, with more than 10 manufacturing plants and over 5,000 refiners. We are engaged in over 1,236 R&D projects and have strategically positioned ourselves to deliver cutting-edge solutions. Our commitment to excellence is evident through our world-class facilities that push the boundaries of innovation. Supported by strong R&D efforts, Parason continues to drive advancements, shaping the future of the pulp and paper industry.

PM: What types of paper grades and pulp varieties can your machines manufacture and process?

MSD: Parason’s machines are designed to handle all types of paper grade, be it the writing-printing, tissue paper, kraft paper, virgin pulp, or recycled pulp. Our innovative machines can efficiently manufacture and process all types of paper grades and pulp varieties. Some of the key paper machines offered by Parason include the hydraulic headbox, press section, Parason maxi shoe press, pre dryer section, size press, cast iron dryers, post dryer section, and yankee cylinders. their pulping equipment includes the high consistency pulper & system, low consistency virgin pulper, dilution pulper, tetra pack pulper (TPP), and more. Parason provides nearly all the necessary equipment for the paper-making process, along with corresponding wear parts.

PM: What are the key features of your machinery, and how is it unique to similar products available in the market?

MSD: Our machines are long-lasting and reliable, with a typical lifespan exceeding 25 years. Parason offers comprehensive maintenance services, including both periodic and preventive care, to ensure optimal performance throughout the equipment’s life cycle. Additionally, we have a robust global support team dedicated to assisting clients with any after-sales needs, ensuring continuous and reliable operation.

PM: What kind of training support do you offer to operators and maintenance personnels?

MSD: Parason offers comprehensive training for clients and their operators during plant commissioning and machinery delivery. This training covers operational principles, best practices for machine use, and detailed maintenance procedures, ensuring optimal performance and machine longevity.

PM: What is your lead time for production and delivery? Does your annual production capacity meet the scale of the industry?

MSD: Our lead times vary depending upon the complexity and scale of each project. With a strong annual production capacity, we are equipped to manage a diverse range of orders while consistently maintaining high standards of quality and timely delivery.

PM: Do you offer customization options to your clients?

MSD: Parason provides extensive customization options. Each machine offers unique operational requirements and ensures optimal alignment with the specific needs of the clients.

PM: What policy intervention would you like to see in place so that India produces more pulp and paper equipment manufacturers?

MSD: We welcome policy interventions that promote zero liquid discharge practices, encourage environmentally friendly manufacturing, and enhance cost-effectiveness in processes. Such policies would significantly support the growth of the domestic pulp and paper equipment manufacturing sector.
