PPI Pumps Driving Energy Efficiency in the Paper Mills

PPI Pumps Pvt. Ltd., a 50-year-old Ahmedabad-based player in liquid and vacuum pump manufacturing, is pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency and process optimization in the paper sector. In an exclusive interview with Paper Mart, Mr. Piyush Pota, Vice President, International Sales, PPI Pumps Pvt. Ltd., shares insights into the company’s latest innovations, including the turbo blower with Indian-made impeller and the 2PE1 and 2PE3 design vacuum pumps.

Paper Mart: What are you showcasing at Paperex 2025?

Piyush Pota: We are showcasing our turbo blower with an Indian-made impeller, as well as the 2PE1 and 2PE3 design vacuum pumps, both being introduced at an exhibition for the first time. These products highlight our focus on innovation, energy efficiency, and process optimization.

By the next Paperex, we aim to have a fully developed turbo blower ready for the market. Currently, we have developed the impeller, but the complete turbo blower will be launched by then.

PM: How do PPI Pumps’ vacuum solutions help paper mills improve process efficiency and reduce energy consumption?

PP: At PPI, we always focus on customer benefit. We design energy-efficient vacuum pumps and often combine 4–5 smaller pumps into a single larger unit. This approach reduces power consumption and enhances overall energy efficiency for paper mills.

PM: What trends and challenges do you see in the industry today?

PP: Selling turbo blowers comes with technical and commercial challenges. We face competition from European and Chinese players and need to outperform them both technically and commercially to succeed.
