Verzuolo mill owned by the Burgo Group is situated optimally close to SKG’s Southern European corrugated facilities. This strengthens SKG’s integrated operating model and it also supports the Group’s sustainability ambitions.

Smurfit Kappa Group (SKG) has now completed the acquisition of Verzuolo at a price of around USD 416.12 million (EUR 360 million). The Verzuolo mill owned by the Burgo Group is situated close to the port of Savona in the northwest of Italy.
The PM9 machine was constructed in the year 2002 and was converted into a 600,000-tonne capacity recycled containerboard machine in 2019.

This mill is highly complementary to SKG’s existing operations as it is strategically positioned close to the port of Savona. The acquisition is expected to deliver significant benefits for both the Group as well as its customer base.
