In an exclusive interview given to Paper Mart, Mr. S. Ebrahim, Managing Partner, The Globe Radio Company, talks about his organization, product portfolio, manufacturing unit and major orders executed.

Paper Mart: Could you tell us a little bit about your company and your product portfolio?
S. Ebrahim: The Globe Radio Company was established in the year 1965. The company is renowned for designing and manufacturing Paper Slitter Rewinders apart from other equipment and machinery for paper mills. The winders manufactured by Globe Radio have found a place in almost every paper mills in India, with repeated orders. The company supplies its products to all over the Indian market and exports to South Africa, Kenya, UAE, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Iran, Tanzania, Nigeria and Ethiopia etc.

Globe Radio specializes in manufacturing high-precision and high-speed Two Drum Slitter Rewinders for paper mills and converters such as mill winders (for board, kraft, writing & printing and newsprint), Salvage Rewinders, Jobbing Rewinders, Duplex Rewinders, Tissue Winders, Reel wrapping Machines, Core Cutters, Re-reelers, Reel Splitters and also other equipment such as Calender Stacks and pope Winders etc.
PM: Tell us about your manufacturing capabilities, innovation and after-sales service support
SE: The Globe Radio Company has a state-of-the-art modern workshop facility spread across 72000 sq. ft. shop floor area and an 8000 sq. ft. Technical & Admin Block on a total land area of 10 Acres. The facility is equipped with all modern technologies and equipment suitable for manufacturing high-speed Slitter Rewinders up to 7000 mm width X 2500 MPM for all variety of paper and boards.
The workshop has been laden with high-precision Roll turning lathes, Plano millers and CNC turning centres. We also have VMC Servo controlled auto welding machines, computerized dynamic balancing machines, TC coating and chrome coating facilities and around 9 material handling 8MT overhead cranes. As a company, we have a technical team of 40 engineers for design, engineering, production and execution of the projects. A team of skilled 95 workforces is engaged in the high-precision manufacturing process.

Our company is engaged in continuous innovations by adding more features with higher-end automations at an affordable cost in rewinders for increasing productivity, ease of operations and safety. The machines developed by Globe Radio are at par with European machines and import substitute thereby saving a lot of forex. From time to time, we adapt our manufacturing process to new and innovative methods to accelerate production without compromising on quality and workmanship. Moreover, many import substitute items are manufactured indigenously in our factory itself which otherwise have to be imported from Europe.
The Globe Radio Company considers after-sales service an important core of its business. Our team of engineers is always ready to attend 24×7 service calls – be it remote or on-site visits. Being high-speed and high-precision machines, the Slitter Rewinders demands thorough maintenance.
PM: Kindly elaborate on the areas wherein your customer can enrol the benefits by using your product?
SE: The Globe Radio Company is best known for delivering high-precision and technologically equipped rewinders and machinery for paper mills. Our winders are known for user-friendliness, ease of operation, high-reliability power-saving and proven performance. The winders are a powerful workhorse behind the paper machine and cost-effective at par with European make winders. The winders supplied by Globe Radio deliver well slit and structure controlled quality reels.
The Globe Radio Company has successfully delivered a high specification and high featured 3900mm Deckle board winder to ITC-PSPD and a wider 5500 mm Deckle high-speed winder to Shree Rama Newsprint Ltd.
PM: Please share some new developments at your end?
SE: The Globe Radio Company has successfully delivered a high specification and high featured 3900mm Deckle board winder to ITC-PSPD and a wider 5500 mm Deckle high-speed winder to Shree Rama Newsprint Ltd.
We are currently manufacturing a Global Standard Board Winder for JK Paper Mill – Unit CPM for their new project having 2500 MPM speed, bigger Finished Reel Diameter, Unwind Roll Diameter, Auto Slitter Station, Auto Web Cross Cutting, Auto Web Clamping, Auto Core Gluing with higher-end PLC Automations.
Also, we are now manufacturing a 5000 mm deckle and 2500 MPM speed rewinder with all the latest features for Kraft paper production for Sri Andal Paper Mill’s new project in Tamil Nadu.
Furthermore, we are going to add larger machines to our manufacturing facility to cater to ever-increasing domestic and overseas specifications and requirements.
