The Navigator Company Starts World’s First Moulded Fibre Packaging Plant Vertically Integrated with Eucalyptus

The Navigator Company, a pulp and paper company from Portugal, has opened a new factory in Aveiro on the West coast of Portugal for the production of moulded fiber packaging, making it the first company in the world to produce this type of packaging in a vertically integrated unit using eucalyptus fiber.

Located in Aveiro on the West coast of Portugal, the facility, having annual production capacity of 100 million units, is the largest factory in Europe and the first in the world to be vertically integrated with eucalyptus fiber.

As per the company, it was geared towards a market with high growth potential, fully aligned with the challenges of reducing the use of single-use plastics.

This new area was part of the company’s responsible business strategy, through which it wanted to continue contributing to a more decarbonised society, valuing the crucial role of planted and well-managed forests in the transition from a linear fossil model with no future, to a circular bioeconomy model that was carbon neutral and favourable to nature.
