An eco-friendly product, produced from agricultural residue-wheat straw, helps save 5,000 trees a day
On Thursday, 18th march 2010, 7:30 in the evening, the stage was perfectly set for the launch of new copier paper by Abhishek Industries Ltd. We reached the venue Taj Man Singh Hotel, Delhi on time. As we entered, the entire team of Trident group greeted us. There we noticed that Mr. Rajinder Gupta, MD & CEO, Trident Group greeted each invitee personally, which was commendable. Mr. S. K. Tuteja, Chairperson, AIL was the one who spilled the beans, of the name of the new copier ”LOTUS”, by opening the curtains and the whole crowd gave them a standing ovation. Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Business Head of the Paper of AIL enlightened the invitees about the new copier, its properties along with resolving their queries on the same. Thereafter people interacted over dinner.
With this launch the flagship company of the Rs 2500 crore Trident Group, has joined the league of companies offering products in the high-end & eco-friendly copier paper segment. AIL, which operates the world’s only wheat straw based paper mill has set itself a target of achieving an incremental turnover of Rs 100 crore, on the current copier paper business of Rs 125 crore, over the next one year in the copier business.
Speaking on the occasion, said, Mr Rajinder Gupta, MD & CEO, Trident Group “Our Company is in the process of expanding its reach in the domestic & international markets. Through the launch of Lotus eco-friendly range of copier paper we endeavour to not only strengthen our relationship with our customers based on quality but also be more accountable towards our environment.” “With this launch, we aim to capture 15 per cent of the overall Rs 1600 crore Indian paper market,” added Mr Gupta.
Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Business Head of the Paper of AIL said, ”Lotus Copier (75 GSM) which is more than 90% ISO brightness paper is manufactured using advanced technology & is a result of one year intensive research on Wheat Straw Pulp carried out by the internal R&D of Trident Paper.”
Trident Paper possesses state-of-the-art paper machines and world class equipments procured from the leading manufacturers in the industry like Metso, Allimand, Enmas and Andritz and can produce 480 TPD of paper at its ecofriendly plants. “The new Abhishek line is a great example of a mill utilizing environmentally sound advanced nonwood pulping technology”, as quoted by Lars-Ake Lindstrom, Vice President of Strategic Research and Chemical Pulping at Metso Paper.
“The major attributes of the latest product are superiority in terms of brightness, bulk and high-speed copying that would give customers greater value. Lotus will provide the consumers with a fast copying experience without compromising on the quality of the endproduct”, added Mr Rajeev Gupta. The prospective customers of the product would include corporates and reprographers for their varied needs of photocopying, printouts and various other printing needs where premium quality and performance are major prerequisites.
Aiming to strengthen its product portfolio, the Group will be targeting 12- 15 per cent of the paper market share in tier-one cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmadabad and Chandigarh. The Company had forayed into the branded copier paper in February 2009 by launching two brands – ‘Spectra’ and ‘My Choice’ and has got positive response within India and overseas. The company has also forayed into the Middle Eastern, African and a few European markets with its “Spectra” and “My Choice” brands. Extension to other markets such as North America (USA), Australia and Europe is also on the anvil through the export of Lotus Copier and other products.
