Keryas Paper Industry has signed MoU with C2C Consultancy for the design and engineering services for the upcoming manufacturing project.

Oman-based Keryas Paper Industry has announced its investment plans of establishing a 200,000 Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) kraft liner project in the UAE. The manufacturing plant will entail an investment of USD 40 million. As published in media reports – Keryas Paper has inked the MoU agreement to avail design and engineering services for the proposed project from C2C Consultancy, a Coimbatore (India)-headquartered consultancy service provider for the pulp & paper industry.
The MoU was signed at the Propaper Dubai 2022 exhibition held in Dubai, UAE.

As stated in a press statement, the kraft liner project aims to bridge the gap in the market for the lower GSM ranges. The products to be manufactured at the plant include low GSM kraft packaging paper with a basis weight of 60- 80 as anchor GSM and 150 GSM basis weight kraft packaging paper, according to the statement.

Moreover, the manufacturing unit, which is going to be one of the largest in GCC nations, is expected to begin production operations within 18 to 20 months. Keryas Paper Industry already has an existing production line in Sohar, Oman, which was commissioned in July 2021. It has an annual production capacity of 180,000 tonnes. Recently, the paper mill ordered two power cleaners (dryer fabric cleaners) for PM1 from ProJet.
