Paper Mart: What are you displaying at Paperex 2025? How has your experience been so far?

Mukesh Kumar: We are displaying various product lines from ST Macchine, including headboxes, stock preparation systems, approach flow equipment, and water treatment plants. ST Macchine has been very successful in India with its headbox solutions, which help customers significantly improve basis weight profile, formation, and overall runnability of the paper machine.

PM: How does ST Macchine help paper mills ensure consistent paper quality?

MK: Our headbox technology plays a key role in improving paper quality. It helps achieve better basis weight control, improved formation, and stable runnability, which are essential for consistent paper production.

PM: What are the new developments or innovations you’re looking at to better cater to the pulp and paper industry?

MK: We are continuously developing and improving our product line. The latest development in our portfolio is the breast roll shaking unit, which helps improve formation and the mechanical characteristics of paper. We have already made break-through in India market and the first breast roll shaking unit is on the way to India.

PM: What are some of the major trends and challenges we are seeing today in the industry?

MK: A major trend we see across the industry is the growing need for manufacturers to be more open to adopting new technologies. This has been highlighted repeatedly across the sector and is becoming increasingly important for long-term competitiveness. At present, AI and automation are areas where the industry is focusing on.
