Paper Mart: Describe your approach to talent acquisition and recruitment. What has helped you attract the right talents?

Vijendra Rauthan: Our approach to talent acquisition focuses on aligning recruitment strategies with our organizational values and business goals. We leverage digital platforms, local job fairs and partnerships with educational institutions to attract diverse talent. Our strong employer brand and comprehensive onboarding process have been pivotal in attracting the right candidates.

PM: Given the presence of your mills in rural areas, what are the challenges that you face in drawing talents there and making them stay?

VR: Operating in rural areas presents challenges such as limited local talent pools and difficulties in relocation for potential hires. To address these, we offer attractive relocation packages, housing facilities and invest in local community development to create a more appealing living environment.

PM: Help us understand the people-focused culture you have nurtured in your organization.

VR: Our people-focused culture is built on trust, transparency and continuous engagement. We prioritize open communication, employee recognition programs and a supportive work environment that fosters growth and innovation.

PM: Walk us through some of the distinct employee welfare initiatives you have rolled out.

VR: We have rolled out comprehensive health and wellness programs, financial planning assistance, and family support services. Additionally, we ensure safe and conducive working conditions and provide recreational facilities to promote work-life balance.

PM: Please discuss the upskilling programmes you have introduced for your mill employees.

VR: Our upskilling programs are designed to enhance the technical and soft skills of our employees. We offer continuous training, certification courses and opportunities for higher education. Our in-house training centers and partnerships with industry experts ensure our workforce remains competitive and well-equipped.

PM: How important is diversity and inclusivity to your organization?

VR: Diversity and inclusivity are core to our organizational ethos. We believe a diverse workforce fosters creativity and innovation. Our policies ensure equal opportunities for all, irrespective of gender, age, ethnicity or background. We conduct regular sensitization workshops and promote an inclusive culture through various employee resource groups.
