Participants at Paperex sounded positive about packaging segment

Paper industry is confident that e-commerce boom in the country will help it to enter new phase of growth. This was the majority view among the participants at the Paperex, the biennial international exhibition and conference on pulp and paper industry held in the national capital.
The participants said that increasing number of Internet users and rising middle-class in the society with higher disposable income has boosted the demand for paper packaging products in the shipment industry. This seems like it will continue for years to come. They pointed out that Indian e-commerce market is expected to grow to USD 228 billion by 2030 as per Goldman Sachs. However experts from the industry noted that it is still below the size of the market today in China (USD 328 billion) and the US (USD 281 billion), but close to ten times as large as India’s market is today. Trade experts are hinting that the industry is entering new phase of growth and paper packaging business will give much needed support to the industry. The industry eco-system is changing rapidly.
Speaking on the success of Paperex Exhibition, Mr Gagan Sahani, director ITE India, said that 500 exhibitors from over 33 countries, including group participation from China, Finland, Taiwan, France and Germany participated in the exhibition. He said that Paperex is a reliable and tested platform to all connected with paper industry including, SME exporters, entrepreneurs and investors. All stakeholders of the industry, from paper mill owners to distributors to end consumers.
Over 15,000 trade visitors from around the globe were in New Delhi to attend the exhibition and learn about more technologies and positive eco-system.
