Valmet will supply a complete bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulping (BCTMP) line and evaporation plant to ITC’s Bhadrachalam mill in India. The delivery includes Valmet’s high-temperature chemi-thermomechanical pulping (HT-CTMP) technology, designed to improve fibre quality while reducing energy consumption during refining. The new line will have a capacity of 350 bone-dry tonnes per day (BDt/d), with start-up planned for the second quarter of 2028. The order was included in Valmet’s order intake for the second quarter of 2026; its value has not been disclosed.

The scope of supply includes the complete BCTMP line, an evaporation plant, flash drying and baling systems, Valmet DNA distributed control system (DCS), flow control solutions and a spare parts package. Valmet will also supply a new White Liquor Disc Filter for the mill’s recausticizing line.
The BCTMP evaporation plant will concentrate the spent liquor generated during pulping for combustion in the mill’s high-power recovery boiler. This is expected to improve energy efficiency and reduce the mill’s environmental load.
