PM: Does the growing geo-political crisis and price fluctuations impact your business in terms of raw material availability, supply chain and deliveries?
AA: While geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic volatility present inevitable global supply chain challenges, Kamakshi Papers strategically mitigates these risks through a highly resilient, adaptive operational framework.
Because we supplement our domestic sourcing with premium grades of recovered paper imported from the West to achieve the high tensile strength required for our Crescent Former tissue mill, we are exposed to ocean freight volatility, container shortages, and extended maritime transit times.
We successfully insulate our manufacturing cycles from these international disruptions by maintaining a deeply entrenched domestic procurement network across India and utilizing data-driven, buffered inventory management at our Gajraula facility, ensuring an uninterrupted raw material pipeline.
Furthermore, our highly diversified product portfolio—spanning newsprint, writing and printing grades, and high-margin soft tissue—coupled with our ability to produce premium-quality products from recycled-fiber base, gives us exceptional commercial agility, allowing us to rapidly optimize our product mix and remain highly cost-competitive even when global energy costs fluctuate or virgin-pulp products experience severe price shocks.
To systematically minimize these systemic risks, we actively maintain multiple diversified sourcing options, build strategic inventory levels, and implement efficient procurement planning, while closely monitoring global market trends and working proactively with our suppliers and logistics partners to guarantee seamless operational continuity and timely deliveries.
PM: Sustainability has become a necessary requirement for all businesses. How do you incorporate sustainability into your operations?
AG: At Kamakshi Papers Pvt. Ltd., sustainability is not merely a compliance requirement but the foundational core of our business model, driving a holistic framework across our entire production ecosystem.
We have completely decoupled our manufacturing from deforestation by operating on a 100% recycled-fiber framework, utilizing exclusively recovered domestic and imported paper feedstocks to conserve vital forest ecosystems and divert thousands of tonnes of waste from landfills annually. This commitment is amplified by our landmark expansion into next-generation tissue manufacturing—distinguished as India’s first dedicated recycled soft tissue Crescent Former mill—which pairs high-speed web forming with energy-optimized Yankee dryers and advanced steam-hood systems to drastically minimize our carbon footprint and energy consumption per tonne.
Furthermore, our water stewardship strategy incorporates advanced multi-stage effluent treatment plants (ETP) and sophisticated fiber-recovery loops, creating an eco-friendly, closed-loop system that continuously recycles processed water and significantly reduces freshwater intake at our Gajraula facility. Through automated quality control systems, continuous capital reinvestment, and process optimization, we minimize waste and chemical usage during de-inking and refining, ensuring maximum yield from recovered fiber while delivering premium-grade, highly biodegradable paper solutions that advance the global circular economy.
PM: Which is the growing segment in the paper industry? What are the demand drivers for this segment?
RA: The global and Indian paper industries are undergoing a profound structural shift, with the tissue paper & hygiene and packaging paper & paperboard segments emerging as the primary engines of market growth.
Driven by an impressive double-digit CAGR, the tissue paper segment in particular has rapidly transitioned from a niche luxury into an everyday essential, fueled by rising disposable incomes, rapid urbanization, and a heightened post-pandemic awareness of health, hygiene, and personal sanitation. This expansion is further accelerated by the explosive boom in e-commerce, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and the hospitality and quick-service restaurant (QSR) sectors, all of which generate a massive, continuous demand for high-volume paper napkins, kitchen towels, and protective paper packaging.
Crucially, stringent global regulatory crackdowns on single-use plastics, combined with a powerful consumer preference for circular-economy brands, have forced industries to aggressively substitute synthetic materials with biodegradable, paper-based alternatives. As a result, the market is experiencing an intense wave of premiumization, creating a lucrative, high-growth environment for forward-thinking manufacturers who can leverage advanced technologies—such as Crescent Former systems—to deliver premium-quality, high-absorbency tissue and packaging solutions derived from 100% recycled fiber.

PM: How do you view the future of the paper industry? What are your plans for the next 5–10 years?
AA: The future of the paper industry is defined by an irreversible shift toward the circular economy, where growth is decoupled from ecological degradation. Driven by rapid urbanization, intense regulatory pushbacks against single-use plastics, and heightened sanitation awareness, conventional commodity papers are giving way to high-value, eco-friendly segments—predominantly packaging and specialized tissue products. At Kamakshi Papers Pvt. Ltd., we view this evolution not as a challenge, but as an expansive landscape for innovation.
Over the next 5–10 years, our strategic vision focuses on capitalizing on this momentum through a three-pronged approach: aggressive capacity scaling, product diversification, and pioneering technological integration. Building on our foundation as India’s first dedicated recycled soft tissue paper Crescent Former mill, our 5-year roadmap includes doubling our production capacity to meet skyrocketing domestic and international demands, while introducing value-added specialized grades such as medical-grade carrier tissues and high-barrier flexible paper packaging. Concurrently, our 10-year outlook integrates Industry 4.0 automation, artificial intelligence-driven energy recovery systems, and advanced closed-loop de-inking technologies.
By continuously engineering premium-bulk, high-performance paper solutions from a 100% recovered fiber base, Kamakshi Papers is positioned to lead the region’s sustainable manufacturing transition, delivering cost-effective alternatives to virgin pulp while consolidating our footprint as a globally competitive powerhouse.
