Paper Mart: Lineomatic has unveiled a “Next‑Generation Folio Size Ream Wrapping Machine’’ at Paperex. Can you tell us about your new machine?

Dilip Golani: This is a folio-size ream wrapping machine that we have launched for the first time in India. The machine is primarily designed for paper and paperboard mills and is fully automatic, specifically developed for folio-size ream wrapping applications.

The machine operates at a speed of 15 packets per minute and can handle a maximum sheet size of 1400 mm × 1200 mm. It is a fully loaded system equipped with automatic gauging, enabling rapid job changeovers in just two minutes. Additionally, the machine is designed for continuous, non-stop operation. With dual pallet arrangements, it ensures uninterrupted production and high operational efficiency.

This is our latest product launch, and Paperex provides an excellent platform to introduce advanced machinery for the paper industry. This is the first machine of its kind to be launched in India.

PM: What are the advantages, features or innovations in this machine compared to its earlier generations?

DG: This is a fully loaded machine that operates without any manual intervention. Job changeovers, which are typically very time-consuming and labor-intensive on manual machines, can rapidly be completed on this machine. It is a servo based system designed for fast and efficient job changes. In paper mills, where multiple sheet sizes are processed. With this machine, all such changes can be executed automatically within two minutes, making it one of the biggest advantages for this machine.

PM: Can you tell us about some of the recent orders or the leading mills that have adopted this technology? Have you received any orders at Paperex?

DG: This is a new launch and a large-scale project, so immediate bookings at Paperex are not feasible. However, we are actively engaged in discussions with leading paper mills for this machine, as well as for our folio-size sheeters.

PM: What role does R&D play in Lineomatic’s technological innovations and automation services, thereby serving the paper industry?

DG: We have complete in-house capabilities, covering end-to-end solutions from R&D to manufacturing. Our dedicated R&D team is continuously working on machine development and upgrades. In addition, we have separate departments for purchasing, production, and planning to ensure smooth execution at every stage. We also operate a fully equipped in-house tool room with more than 100+ CNC machines.

All mechanical components—including fabrication, machine structures, rollers, and other mechanical components —are manufactured internally. We are not dependent on any outsourced agencies for core mechanical components.
Our automation team is also fully in-house, handling all programming and system integration internally. As a result, the entire machine and its automation is developed within our facilities.

We have a strong service infrastructure with more than 60 engineers dedicated to installation, commissioning, and after-sales support. We have dedicated departments, ensuring quick response and reliable service. Overall, our approach is to keep everything in-house, allowing us to maintain consistent quality and accountability.

PM: Why is automation becoming essential for paper mills today?

DG: Day by day, labor-related challenges such as reliability, availability, and performance are increasing, making automation a necessity rather than an option. As a result, many companies and leading paper mills are increasingly adopting automation to achieve better productivity, consistent quality, and faster output. Automation significantly reduces dependence on manual labor. While it requires a one-time investment, it delivers long-term operational benefits by ensuring stable performance and efficiency. In practical terms, a single automated machine can replace manual intervention, while also improving output consistency and overall plant efficiency. Every mill will need to expand and adopt automation to remain competitive.

PM: What are your future plans?

DG: Currently, we are focusing on developing different machinery for the stationery and converting segments. Following this, we plan to introduce additional models related to the paper and packaging industry. We are also planning to launch a new model of flexo printing machine.

To sum it up, as production demands continue to rise, companies increasingly need to adopt automation to achieve faster output, higher efficiency, and consistent quality.
