In an exclusive interview with Paper Mart, Mr. Madhure Desarda, Director—Business Development, Parason Machinery Private Limited, shares that the company has successfully designed, supplied, commissioned, and handed over a complete stock preparation line to Suchonski Pulp & Paper Mill in Eastern Europe, engineered to process 400–450 TPD of recycled Old Corrugated Containers (OCC). Designed to maximize fiber recovery, ensure consistent stock cleanliness, and adapt to incoming raw material variation, the line provides the mill with a stable and reliable OCC processing platform, operating as an integral part of the mill’s daily production. The new installation enables Suchonski Pulp & Paper Mill to scale its operations while meeting the growing demand for recycled-fiber-based packaging solutions.

Paper Mart: Parason has successfully commissioned a complete stock preparation line for recycled OCC in Eastern Europe. Can you tell us about the new line and its technical specifications?
Madhure Desarda: Parason has designed and delivered a complete stock preparation line for 400–450 TPD of recycled Old Corrugated Container (OCC) furnish, specifically engineered for Russian OCC (ROCC) — a fiber grade known for its variability in cleanliness, fiber length, and contaminant load.
The line was executed as a waste-paper pulping and stock preparation project, combining Parason’s core engineering strength and stock preparation expertise accumulated with hand over experience of the last 5 decades.
The system integrates a full suite of Parason equipment engineered to work as a single, optimized process package: AFS-15 pulper for high-consistency pulping for efficient defibering of OCC bales; ragger / rope cutter for continuous removal of long-strand contaminants (wires, ropes, plastics); junk trap for heavy-reject removal (stones, metals, wire fragments); trommel screen for rotary coarse screening for large debris separation; pressure screens for fine screening for stock cleanliness ahead of the paper machine; and cleaning & screening systems for integrated multi-stage cleaning package.
The line is engineered to maximize fiber recovery, deliver consistent stock cleanliness, and provide the mill with a stable, reliable OCC processing platform that adapts to variations in incoming raw material quality.

PM: In which paper mill is the new stock preparation line commissioned? Did you encounter any challenges while commissioning the line and how did you overcome them?
MD: The line has been successfully commissioned at Suchonski Pulp & Paper Mill in Eastern Europe, executed as part of a waste paper pulping and stock preparation project. The installation includes the AFS-15 pulper, junk trap, trommel screen, pressure screens, ragger/rope cutter, and associated cleaning and screening systems, all delivered as an integrated package.
Commissioning approach: As with any large-scale industrial project, a system of this complexity demands precise engineering coordination between the design, project, and site teams; proactive planning to sequence civil, mechanical, and electrical work efficiently; strong on-ground technical support during equipment installation, alignment, and start-up; and close collaboration with the customer and local partners to resolve site-specific challenges in real time.
Through this integrated approach — combining Parason’s engineering strength with the customer’s operational team — the line was successfully commissioned, tested, and handed over, now running as part of the mill’s daily production operations.
PM: When will this new line commence operations?
MD: The line is already in operation. The commissioning has been successfully completed and the system is fully integrated into the mill’s daily production from June 26, 2026. The line is engineered to deliver reliable performance, high-yield fiber recovery, and consistent stock quality, supporting the mill’s day-to-day production requirements and long-term operational stability.

PM: How will the new stock preparation line strengthen the mill’s manufacturing capabilities, optimizing its fiber utilization?
MD: The new stock preparation line significantly strengthens the mill’s manufacturing capabilities by enabling efficient processing of recycled OCC at 400–450 TPD, a substantial addition to the mill’s production platform. The impact spans multiple dimensions:

- Advanced pulping & cleaning technology: The AFS-15 pulper, junk trap, trommel screen, pressure screens, and ragger works as an integrated package.
- Maximised fiber recovery: With this new stock line, every usable fiber is captured, and reject rates minimised.
- Effective contaminant removal: A multi-stage cleaning removes plastics, wires, stones, metals, and fines.
- Consistent stock quality: The stable pulp characteristics feed downstream operations reliably.
- Reduced raw material losses: The line produces better yield per tonne of incoming OCC.
- Improved operational efficiency: The stable line ensures fewer stoppages and better paper machine runnability.
- Sustainability gain: It generates higher recovered fiber utilisation, and supports circular economy goals.
Together, this integrated approach to pulping, cleaning, and screening gives the mill a stable, high-performance recycled fiber platform — supporting better product quality, more efficient operations, and more sustainable use of recycled fiber resources. The line positions the mill to meet current market demand and to scale confidently as recycled-fiber packaging demand continues to grow.

The line is engineered to maximize fiber recovery, deliver consistent stock cleanliness, and provide the mill with a stable, reliable OCC processing platform that adapts to variations in incoming raw material quality.
