Pakka and Haber have partnered to deploy AI-driven optimisation at Pakka’s pulp mill, starting with key process stages and expanding across the facility over time. Using Haber’s Mt. Fuji platform as the plant’s data historian and AI agent layer, the teams will integrate real-time operational data with analytics to reduce process variability, improve predictability of critical quality KPIs, and optimize the use of chemicals, energy and water.

For over four decades, Pakka has been building compostable and regenerative packaging solutions for food wrap & carry, food service and flexible packaging with the belief that scaling is essential to create a larger impact. This collaboration supports that direction by strengthening how efficiently Pakka runs its operations. As the company expands its manufacturing capacity, it is also investing in smarter systems behind the scenes, so that decisions are guided by better data, clearer visibility, and deeper understanding of its processes. The outcome is simple: better efficiency today enables Pakka to produce at larger scale tomorrow, and larger scale allows the company to create deeper impact towards a cleaner planet.

The collaboration aligns with Pakka’s sustainability-led manufacturing philosophy, where technology is viewed as a key enabler of consistent performance and responsible use of energy and raw materials. By deploying advanced digital tools and closed-loop optimization, Pakka aims to strengthen day-to-day process control, reduce variability-driven losses, and accelerate progress on its environmental and operational objectives.

Mt. Fuji will be configured not only to unify and contextualize data from disparate sources, but also to serve as the historian layer for the mill, allowing plant teams to go back in time, study trends, investigate deviations, perform root cause analysis, and build the operational context required for AI agents to act effectively. Mt. Fuji will further be configured to help reduce process fluctuations, improve predictability in critical quality KPIs, and support more efficient use of chemicals, energy, and water, delivering outcomes that are both performance-driven and sustainability-aligned.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Ved Krishna, Group Lead, Pakka Limited, said, “As we grow, we want tighter control and clearer visibility into our processes. This partnership helps our teams make better decisions every day, improving efficiency now and enabling meaningful scale tomorrow. Our journey has always been about doing better and believing that manufacturing should leave the world better than we found it. This partnership with Haber helps us bring more care and intelligence into how we use energy, water, and materials every day. For us, this isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about responsibility.”

Adding to this, Mr. Vipin Raghavan, CEO, Haber, said, “AI has a critical role to play in optimizing pulp mill operations in a way that balances performance with sustainability. We look forward to working closely with Pakka and see our AI agents in action to optimize the pulp mill operations.”
