BILT installs India’s largest cut-size line to date

India’s leading paper manufacturer Ballarpur Industries Limited (BILT), part of Avantha Group, has commissioned the country’s largest-ever cut-size line. The German/USmade cut-size sheeting and packaging line installed at the Sewa mill in Orissa is now the widest in the Indian paper industry. It is capable to produce sheets in A4 and A3.

BILT Chief Operating Officer Yogesh Agarwal said the line further expanded BILT’s strong position as the Indian market leader in the domestic market for the manufacture of writing and printing paper. “The new line will enable BILT to meet the internationally applicable quality standards for communication paper that are valid today and into the future”, he said.
The 10-pocket cut-size line was manufactured by E.C.H. Will and Pemco, two companies of the Körber PaperLink (KPL) Group. It is the third cut-size paper line BILT has acquired from the two KPL companies. The line consists of a SLK 490 10-pocket cut-size sheeter with five shaftless unwind stands from E.C.H.
Will and an inline packaging line from Pemco. The packaging line includes a Model 33 ream wrapper – using Pemco’s latest packaging technology – a Model 124 ream inspector, a Model 137 stacker/accumulator and a Model 162 case packer/lidder.
The new cut-size line represents an excellent investment for BILT. “Our long-standing business relations with E.C.H. Will and Pemco and their Indian agent, Arjun Technologies, give us great confidence that their proven technology grants us outstanding investment security,” Yogesh Agarwal said.
