PM: What challenges do you face with regard to the quality of paper & paperboard? Please share some of your key expectations from the paper mills?

HS: There is a lack of consistency in the quality of the kraft paper either in terms of BF or RCT; there’s always a deviation from the expected quality. Also, the lead time of the materials has been very erratic lately. A basic consistency is expected from the paper mills in terms of quality as well as supply of the kraft paper.

PM: With the ‘New Normal’ imposed due to the pandemic, what is the current market situation and what are your projections for the future?

HS: Due to the pandemic, the supply of kraft paper was majorly affected as the availability of waste paper was an issue that also led to an exponential rise in the prices of the same. In the ‘New Normal’, a uniformity/reduction in the price of kraft paper is expected and supply should also improve.
