Nippon Paper Crecia Co., Limited, part of the Nippon Paper Group, has contracted Körber Business Area Tissue to supply Perini Constellation™ and Horizon technology for its Japan-based plant to further strengthen its competitive position in the family care sector in Japan. Nippon Paper Crecia is active in family, personal, professional care, and gift & novelty, and owing to Körber’s technology wins in quality, performance, and profitability.

By virtue of the results achieved with the installation of the first line, Nippon Paper Crecia has relied once more on Körber Business Area Tissue, choosing Perini Constellation™ and Horizon. The former, an innovative plant that can be configured according to the client’s needs, represents an ideal solution for the conversion of tissue paper into original products. The advanced winding system makes it possible to exercise a lower embossing pressure and an optimal use of the raw materials employed. The capacity to run at high speed and the reduction of downtime support the operators in changing the mix of production more quickly, given the same finished product quality. The elevated performance of Perini Constellation™ has allowed Nippon Paper Crecia to launch the ‘Scottie Flower Pack – lasts three times longer’ on the market, a newly developed range consisting of numerous patented articles.

Nippon Paper Crecia has also purchased several horizon lines, the rewinder that combines and integrates Körber’s sophisticated techniques for the manufacturing of soft, bulky tissue products up to 200 mm in diameter. Equipped with a surface-central hybrid winding system with Punzoncini technology, the machine is able to operate at a speed of up to 600 mpm, with lower-density rolls. Moreover, the possibility to control the center of the log results in a more stable winding phase, reducing wrinkles caused by log vibrations, all while ensuring a perfectly centered core. In addition, the patented Sincro Evo web severing method improves the transfer phase, making the whole converting process more silent and more energy-efficient, for a green-oriented solution.

“We purchased the first line in 1996, for the manufacturing of roll items. Our partnership with Körber Business Area Tissue has continued since then. There are multiple factors behind this choice: the elevated converting speed of the machine and the simplified maintenance, for an extremely diversified production output”, says Mr. Takai, Technology Division Manager at Nippon Paper Crecia, continuing, “In this sense, thanks to Körber, we are free to customize the aesthetics of the finished product, which translates in an ever-increasing and complete offering, giving us the possibility to change its characteristics such as the diameter size, the sheet length and the roll cut”.

“In these past few years, we have seen an evolution in consumption, for which Körber’s solutions offer wide margins in anticipating and meeting such trends. Specifically, the benefits that a technology like Körber Business Area Tissue’s winding system represents are multiple: in production terms, this means a lower roll change frequency, which reduces downtime and increases productivity. Likewise, the output takes up less space, an advantage both for end consumers and carriers. Finally, the new product generates less waste, in favor of more eco-friendly converting processes. Ultimately, thanks to Körber Business Area Tissue, our production is stable and the items have been enjoying high appreciation in the market”, concludes Mr. Takai.

Mr. Oswaldo Cruz Junior, CEO at Körber Business Area Tissue, states, “Perini Constellation™ and Horizon, in addition to guaranteeing a higher performance, contribute to the clients’ sustainability, a significant plus in a high-density region as is Asia. We are excited about our collaboration with Nippon Paper Crecia Co., Ltd. and the efficiency our lines are able to deliver while being environmentally friendly, along the entire value chain. As in Japan, Körber Business Area Tissue is present worldwide to meet the many demands of tissue converters, with advanced and constantly evolving solutions, at the forefront of technology leadership”.
