Orient Paper & Industries has started trial runs on a new tissue machine at its Amlai facility in Madhya Pradesh. The commercial production on the 59 tonne/day unit is expected to begin soon.
The Toscotec-supplied PM 4 has a wire width of 2.75 m and an operating speed of up to 1,250 m/min. Output is in a basis weight range of 11.5-40 GSM. The cost of the project totalled some rupee 1.2 billion. The Amlai facility houses three other paper machines with a total capacity of 85,000 tons/yr of tissue and printing/writing papers.
