Parason Machinery has successfully manufactured, tested and dispatched a Sludge Screw Press to a paper mill in Africa for continuous dewatering of chemical and biological sludge generated from Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs).

The equipment is designed to dewater sludge from pulp and paper mill Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), increasing consistency from 10–12 per cent at the inlet to up to 40 per cent at the outlet. The continuous, automated process is aimed at reducing sludge volume and improving sludge handling and transportation.

The system is also expected to support lower disposal and operating costs, while improving ETP efficiency and reliability. The equipment was manufactured, inspected and tested at Parason’s manufacturing facility before being dispatched to the African paper mill.
