Valmet will provide modernization services for the recovery boiler and evaporation plant at Södra Mönsterås pulp mill in Sweden as part of the mill’s annual maintenance programme. The work is aimed at improving reliability, safety, operational availability and long-term performance of critical process equipment.

For the recovery boiler, Valmet will carry out inspections, pressure-part replacements, maintenance works and upgrades to a new safety system, along with Smelt-X equipment and spare parts. For the evaporation plant, the scope includes replacement of a tank head and flash tank, together with inspection and maintenance services.
The modernization work will be carried out during the mill’s annual shutdown in November 2026. The order is included in Valmet’s orders received for the third quarter of 2026, while its value has not been disclosed.
Södra Mönsterås has an annual pulp production capacity of 750,000 tonnes and is one of Sweden’s largest market pulp mills.
