Cascades will now package its reams of copy paper in a more ecological fashion, by using a wrapper that is 100% recycled and recyclable. What could be more logical than to provide paper that already has a smaller environmental footprint in a wrapper that is environmentally friendly! Traditionally, ream wrapper is made with virgin paper with a plastic layer that acts as a humidity barrier. Cascades have developed a new wrapper that provides the same protection and is produced using 100% recycled fibre.
As an environmental benefit, the new packaging can be recycled with regular office paper which reduces waste that goes to landfill. The old plastic coating is a contaminant that significantly complicates the recycling process. To further enhance the greening of our new wrapper we are using biodegradable inks and have reduced the ink coverage.
