After the acquisition, Mayr-Melnhof Holz will grow its lumber production capacity by about 50 percent to more than 2.7 million m3 of sawn timber annually.

Austria-headquartered Mayr-Melnhof Holz has got the necessary approval from the competition authorities regarding the acquisition of the Swedish sawmill Group Bergkvist Siljan. The deal is expected to finalise during the first quarter of 2022.
The new sites in Insjön, Mora, and Blyberg, which are all in central Sweden, perfectly complement the existing sawmill sites in Leoben in Austria, Paskov in the Czech Republic, and Efimovskij in Russia. Further, this also moves Mayr-Melnhof Holz, with around 5 million m3 of log processing capacity, up to be the third-largest European sawmill.

With the acquisition, the group now expects for the first time in its 170-year long history, a turnover to surpass EUR 1 billion in the 2022 financial year.
Bergkvist Siljan has an annual production capacity of about 850,000 m3 of spruce and pine sawn timber. The company has three sawmill sites and one of the largest container terminals in Sweden.
