Stora Enso has decided to close down Baienfurt Mill and Kabel Mill's coated magazine paper machine PM 3 with annual capacity 140,000 tons by the end of the year 2008. The reasons behind the planned closures are persistent profitability problems caused by European overcapacity, the strength of the euro and cost increases, especially for wood and energy....

Domtar announced that it will permanently shut down the paper machine and converting operations of its Dryden, Ontario mill. This will result in the permanent curtailment of Domtar's annual paper production capacity by approximately 151,000 tons of uncoated freesheet paper.
