A budget of Rs. 800 crore has been prepared for the proposal for reviving Cachar Paper Mill and revamping Nagaon Paper Mill

A per the official statement by the state government, the secretary of the heavy industries and public enterprise ministry informed Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal about the proposal. The proposal has already been processed for vetting.
Assam has been demanding an increase in the installed capacity of Nagaon Paper Mill at Jagiroad and reviving Cachar Paper Mill at Panchgram which has been shut down due to shortage of raw materials.
