International Paper has announced the permanent closing of its Georgetown Pulp and Paper Mill, expected to impact 600-700 workers. The full closure of the mill is expected by the end of 2024.

‘‘The decision is especially difficult because of the impact on hardworking employees, their families and the surrounding communities,” said Bernie Chascin, Georgetown Mill manager, International Paper.

The strategic contract that the partners will terminate as of December 31, 2024, as per International Paper.
