The expansion will enable Mondi to fulfill the growing demand for paper-based flexible packaging, which is driven by surge in e-commerce and sustainable packaging. It will also facilitate the growth of the group’s range of innovative, sustainable packaging, and paper solutions.
The new kraft paper machine will have the capacity to produce about 210,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of sack kraft paper for the Paper Bags business. It will also optimise the production across the kraft paper portfolio and strengthen its position in speciality kraft paper for a broad range of applications such as functional barrier papers.
